GS Route: Bobeyan and Yaouk Rds to Adaminaby, Middlingbank Rd to Berridale and then onto Dalgety

With the high country starting to thaw it beckons a welcome return to alpine riding. So why not join the Club for some clear air on a ride through the Snowy Monaro Plains to lunch at Buckley’s Crossing Hotel, Dalgety?

Outbound via Googong and Royalla to pick up the Monaro Hwy to Cooma (coffee stop at The Lott Cafe, with hopefully no need to thaw extremities!), through to Jindabyne and then onto Dalgety via the Snowy River Way.

Return via Maffra Rd to Cooma and then a repeat of the delightful Monaro Hwy back to Canberra. Option for a break/stop at ??Bredbo on the return leg (to decide on the day).

Approximately 360 km on sealed main and secondary roads. Expect some road surfaces to be damaged.

Fuel: Available in Cooma and Jindabyne.

Meeting Point: Meet fuelled and ready to go at the Red Rooster, 3 Bungendore Rd, Queanbeyan for a prompt 09:00  departure.

GS Riders: For those keen on detouring via gravel or dirt, you’re more than welcome to join us en route, or at Cooma or Dalgety.

Register if you're interested in coming so I can let the cafe and pub know likely numbers for coffee and lunch. Please email rides@bmwmcc.au if you plan to meet the group on the way, or at Cooma or Dalgety.

For those joining the ride along the way, or making their own way to the Pub, proposed meeting points (with best guess times) are:

• Red Rooster (3 Bungendore Rd, QBN) - leaving 09:00;
• The Lott Cafe (177-179 Sharp St, Cooma) - coffee stop – arriving 10:20, leaving by 10:55; and
• Buckley’s Crossing Hotel (1 Brierly St, Dalgety)  - arriving 12:25 (lunch booking @12:30).

Back-Up Plan: If the weather gods issue a late wintery blast, then the ride will likely switch to heading north-west to the silo art at Grenfell (TBA).
