If you can’t face any more leftovers, then why not join the Club for a post-Christmas, high country ride to Charlotte Pass and lunch at the Stillwell Hotel with its stunning mountain views?

Outbound: through Googong and Royalla to Cooma (coffee at Snowy Hydro Discovery Centre), then through to Jindabyne and onto some decent tarmac and sweeping bends to Charlotte Pass for lunch at 12:30 (211km). If you’d prefer a shorter ride, then why not join the first leg of the ride through to Cooma for coffee (105 km)?

Return: various options (each to their own and to decide on day), e.g.:

• Retrace outbound route (211km) - see above link
• Via Dalgety - Maffra Rd – Cooma (227 km): Google Maps    
• Via Dalgety – Berridale – Cooma (226 km): Google Maps    
• Via Eucumbene and Rocky Plains Rds – Cooma (221 km): Google Maps   

Approximately 440 km return on sealed main roads. Expect some road surfaces to be damaged. Break/stop if needed on the return leg to be decided on the day.

Note: There is a daily $7 Kosciuszko National Park entry fee per motorbike to access Kosciuszko Rd to Charlotte Pass.

Meeting Point: Meet fuelled and ready to go at Red Rooster, Queanbeyan (3 Bungendore Rd) for a prompt 08:45 departure.

GS Riders: Those keen to detour for fun on gravel or dirt are more than welcome to join en route, or at the Pub.

Fuel: Available in Jindabyne, Berridale or Cooma.

Register if you're interested in coming so I can let the pub know likely numbers for lunch. Please email  rides@bmwmcc.au if you plan to meet the group on the way, or at the pub, or head elsewhere after coffee in Cooma.

For those joining the ride along the way, or making their own way to the Stillwell Hotel, proposed meeting points (with best guess times) are:

• Red Rooster (3 Bungendore Rd, QBN) - leaving 08:45
• Cooma (coffee stop - Snowy Hydro Discovery Centre, 1 Monaro Hwy) – arriving 10:00, leaving by 10:40
• Berridale Coach Stop (Jindabyne Rd) – arriving and leaving 11:05 (not stopping)
• Stillwell Hotel - arriving 12:20 (lunch booking @12:30)
