If you’re keen to squeeze in a longer day ride before daylight savings time ends, then why not join the Club for a winding backroads ride to Candelo for lunch at the Candelo Hotel? If you’d prefer a shorter ride, then why not join the first or second leg of the ride through to Cooma (100 km) for coffee or Bombala (200 km)?

Outbound (272 km): via the Monaro Hwy (sorry!) to Cooma (coffee stop at Snowy Hydro Discovery Centre & Café), then Church and Maffra Rds and the Snowy River Way to Bombala (quick regroup/fuel stop), onto Mt Darragh Rd to Cathcart and Wyndham and then Myrtle Mtn Rd to Candelo:

Return (200 km): via Mogilla Rd, Bemboka, Snowy Mtns Hwy, Brown Mtn, Nimmitabel and Cooma:

Approximately 472 km return on sealed main and secondary roads. All were in good riding condition on 28/2 but expect some damaged road surfaces. Break/stop on the return leg to be decided on the day.

Fuel: Available in Bombala, Nimmitabel and Cooma.

GS Riders: Those keen to detour for fun on gravel or dirt are more than welcome to join en route, or at the Pub.

Meeting Point: Meet fuelled and ready to go at EG Ampol, Hume (94 Sheppard St), for a prompt 08:00 departure.

Register if you're interested in coming so I can let the Pub know likely numbers for lunch. Please email rides@bmwmcc.au if you plan to meet the group on the way, or at the Pub, or head elsewhere after the Cooma or Bombala stops.

For those joining the ride along the way, or making their own way to the Pub, proposed meeting points (with best guess times) are:

• EG Ampol, Hume - leaving 08:00
• Williamsdale Layover (opposite derelict Servo) – arriving 08:20 (not stopping)
• Cooma (coffee stop - Snowy Hydro Discovery Centre, 1 Monaro Hwy) – arriving 09:10, leaving by 10:00
• Bombala - arriving 11:15 and leaving by 11:25
• Candelo Hotel - arriving 12:40 (lunch booking @12:45).
