UPDATE 11/8/24: Lunch venue changed to Light Horse Hotel, Murrumburrah (Harden), at 12:30 as Wombat Hotel has ceased trading. Set-off time and route to Wombat remain the same.

If you’re not one to shy away from winter riding, then why not join the Club for a Sunday back roads ride to Murrumburah via Wombat for lunch at the Light Horse Hotel (360 km return)? If you’d prefer a shorter ride, then why not join the first leg of the ride through to Binalong for coffee (170 km return)?

Outbound to Binalong (coffee/rest stop) and then Hughstonia, Cunningar, Cusak and Moppity Rds to Young, then onto Wombat via the Olympic Hwy and onto Murrumburrah via Wombat Rd (185 km):  Google Maps

Return via Jugiong Rd, Hume Hwy, Berremangra Rd and Bouyeo Rd onto Burley Griffin Way and then home (175 km): Google Maps

Approximately 360 km on sealed main, secondary and back roads. Expect some road surfaces to be damaged. Note that Berremangra Rd road is narrow, hilly and twisty, with multiple cattle grids, wandering livestock and farm traffic (but it’s a great ride!). 

Fuel: Available in Young and Harden-Murrumburrah.

Meeting Point: Meet fuelled and ready to go at the Ampol/Caltex Foodary, Gold Creek (Nicholls) for a prompt 09:15 departure.

GS Riders: For those keen on detouring via gravel or dirt, you’re more than welcome to join us en route, or at the Pub.

Register if you're interested in coming so I can let the Pub know likely numbers for lunch. Please email rides@bmwmcc.au if you plan to meet the group on the way, or at the Pub, or head elsewhere after coffee in Binalong.

For those joining the ride along the way, or making their own way to the Pub, proposed meeting points (with best guess times) are:

• Ampol/Caltex Foodary, Gold Creek (Nicholls) - leaving 09:15;
• Café on Queen, Queen St, Binalong (coffee stop) – arriving 10:15, leaving by 11:00; and
• Light Horse Hotel, 341 Albury St, Murrumburrah - arriving 12:25 (lunch booking @12:30).
