Keen for a Sunday ride to Dalton, NSW, for lunch at the historic Royal Hotel?

Up for a GS ride (unsealed roads)? Then see A below and join fellow intrepid GS riders for a ride taking in the Yass River and southwest of Crookwell regions. Prefer a TS ride (sealed roads)? Then head to B below.

A: GS Ride

Outbound: Departing Little Sutton Bakehouse at 09:00 the route takes riders on the tar to Gundaroo. From there we hit the dirt on Marked Tree Road, where after a brief photo opportunity at Pandey Hill, riders turn left at Collector Road into Gunning. After Gunning, there is a mix of tar and gravel as the riders do a loop through Wheeo and the Bevendale locality before finally arriving at the Royal Hotel, Dalton for lunch @12:00 (144 km): https://maps.app.goo.gl/T4ZwoX83LqdQgLVQ7

I am personally hoping lamb cutlets will be on the specials menu for that day.

Return (to Sutton): The return route sees riders continuing south through the Jerrawa and Lade Vale localities then turning left onto Yass River Road. After a short stint on Yass River Road the route takes riders into Gundaroo and Sutton (70 km):  https://maps.app.goo.gl/ByiWZdDjXe6Eu2Xk9

Riders can subsequently peel off as required to take the best route home that suits them.

  • Alternative Return Route via Hall, ACT: For those wanting an alternative route, turn west from Yass River Road onto Dicks Creek Road, into the Nanima and Spring Range localities, finally ending up on the Barton Highway just outside Hall, ACT (83 km): https://maps.app.goo.gl/8V1UhPSx3MrvdTrm8

GS Meeting Point: Meet fuelled and ready to go at 08:45 at Little Sutton Bakehouse (1 Victoria St, Sutton) for an 09:00 departure.

B: TS Ride

Outbound: Ex. Red Rooster (Qbn), Captains Flat, Briars Sharrow & Hoskinstown Rds to Bungendore, then Bungendore Rd, Shingle Hill Way and Sutton and Gundaroo Rds to Gunning, picking up Dalton Rd to Dalton for lunch @ 12:00 (110 km): https://maps.app.goo.gl/9FF6EeH8TqN3fe8k7

Return (to Sutton): Each to their own and to decide on the day with options including:

TS Meeting Point: Meet fuelled and ready to go at Red Rooster, Qbn (3 Bungendore Rd) for a 10:20 set-off.

GS & TS:

Fuel: Available in Gunning (before 12:00 on Sunday) and Dalton (11:00-15:00 on Sunday). Mobil Servo in Gunning is currently closed.

Register if you're interested in coming so we have an idea of likely numbers.
