If you don’t mind a long day ride, then why not join the Club for a high country ride through stunning alpine scenery to Talbingo for lunch at the Talbingo Country Club? If you’d prefer a shorter ride, then why not join the first leg of the ride through to Adaminaby for coffee (155 km)?

Outbound: via the Monaro Hwy to Cooma, onto the Snowy Mountains Hwy to Adaminaby (coffee/rest stop), then continuing on the Snowy Mountains Hwy to Talbingo (245km):   Google Maps

Return: each to their own and to decide on the day with options including:

• Retrace outbound route (245km):  Google Maps
• Via Tumut to Gocup Rd and onto the Hume Hwy (225km):  Google Maps
• Via Tumut to Gocup Rd, Hume Hwy, Muttama Rd, Old Gundagai Rd, Olympic Hwy and Burley Griffin Way (280km):  Google Maps

Approximately 470-526km return (depending on return route) on sealed main and secondary roads. Expect some road surfaces to be damaged. Break/stop on the return leg to be decided on the day.

Fuel: Available in Cooma, Adaminaby and Tumut.

GS Riders: Those keen to detour for fun on gravel or dirt are more than welcome to join en route, or at the Country Club.

Meeting Point: Meet fuelled and ready to go at EG Ampol, Hume (94 Sheppard St), for a prompt 08:30 departure.

Register if you're interested in coming so I can let the Country Club know likely numbers for lunch. Please email rides@bmwmcc.au if you plan to meet the group on the way, or at the Country Club, or head elsewhere after coffee in Adaminaby.

For those joining the ride along the way, or making their own way to the Country Club, proposed meeting points (with best guess times) are:

• EG Ampol, Hume - leaving 08:30
• Williamsdale Layover (opposite derelict Servo) – arriving 08:50 (not stopping)
• Big Trout, Adaminaby - arriving 10:30 and leaving by 11:15
• Talbingo Country Club - arriving 12:40 (lunch booking @12:45).
